Job Title: Innovation Food Technologist

Position Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career scientist or food technologist to gain hands-on experience in the design and execution of trials within a cutting-edge product innovation team. The role involves conducting lab and plant-based experiments, contributing to new product and process development, and supporting collaborative cross-functional projects.
You’ll work in a fast-paced, supportive environment alongside a multidisciplinary team, contributing directly to the development of high-quality food products. Ideal candidates will be curious, collaborative, and driven by data and practical problem-solving.
Main Responsibilities:
* Plan and implement lab-scale and industrial trials in support of innovation projects.
* Develop and refine experimental protocols, processes, and validation methods.
* Collect, analyse, and interpret trial data to support decision-making.
* Record results accurately in internal documentation platforms and communicate findings to the wider team.
* Assess and evaluate new raw materials, ingredients, and technologies.
* Maintain up-to-date trial documentation, SOPs, and specifications.
* Share learnings internally to enhance product development knowledge and best practices.
* Coordinate with other technologists to ensure alignment across trials and projects.
* Provide input and support across multiple departments, including Quality, Production, and Engineering.
* Adhere to all health and safety procedures while encouraging safe working practices across the team.
Key Success Measures:
* Clear and accurate recording of technical findings and outcomes.
* Projects moved forward based on validated trial data.
* Improvements achieved in process, product quality, or methodology.
* Trial reports completed and presented to project stakeholders.
* High level of team collaboration and communication.
Skills & Competencies:
* Strong foundation in scientific reasoning and data interpretation.
* Comfortable applying basic maths and scientific concepts (e.g., concentrations, unit conversions, percentages).
* Skilled in operating laboratory and pilot-scale production equipment.
* Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organisational abilities.
* Able to manage multiple priorities and adjust to shifting project timelines.
* Excellent communication skills — both verbal and written.
* Effective at working independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
* Confident in giving technical input and adapting to feedback.
* Familiarity with good manufacturing practices (GMP) and food safety protocols.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Willingness to travel for site visits or external collaborations if required.
* Physical capability to lift up to 10kg routinely, with occasional lifting of up to 20kg.
Qualifications & Experience:
* A degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline.
* Basic understanding of food processing principles and ingredient functionality.
* Demonstrated ability to gather, interpret, and present technical data.
