Overview
As an Electrical & Commissioning Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, build, and delivery of bespoke packaging automation equipment for the pharmaceutical sector.
You will be responsible for electrical design, panel build supervision, machine wiring, software integration, and on-site commissioning.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical capability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, compliant solutions to our clients.
Responsibilities
Review electrical schematics, red pen and ensure updates are captured.
Specify, select, and integrate electrical and control components (PLCs, drives, HMIs, safety devices, vision systems, robotics).
Support electrical panel build and full machine wiring.
Carry out machine commissioning, including integration, supporting debugging, and functional testing.
Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) at customer facilities.
Ensure compliance with industry standards (CE, UL, GAMP5, pharmaceutical validation requirements).
Provide technical support during project lifecycle, including design reviews, risk assessments, and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and project engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Create and maintain accurate documentation (wiring diagrams, test protocols).
Support continuous improvement in design, build, and commissioning processes.
Ability to understand the machine settings & make commissioning changes
Ability to navigate all Tekpak HMI variants & identify the troubleshooting information
Competence with establishing and recording machine settings
Understanding of vacuum assemblies and potential issues
Ability to identify issues with tracking
Testing Machine for: clearance functionality, recovery after e-stop, guard open, power loss, limits for air pressure, speed on each format
Ability to challenge the areas prone to jam, torque overload
Ability to prevent issues in real production conditions by stress testing
Ability to test interfaces with Upstream / downstream
All alarms and warning conditions
Ability to quickly assess and operate OEM equipment
Ability to execute a Pre-FAT
Ability to lead
Independently carry out Machine FAT
Contribution to the design reviews as per checklists
Electrical Bill of Materials Management
Drafting of electrical diagrams specification
Machine interfaces & signal exchange plan
Power Requirements specification for Engineering layout
Understanding of Inverters, Servo Motors & Drives
Encoders, their purpose and different types
Sensors and the different types
Preparation of Machine CE Plate
A complete Customer Requirements understanding
Essential Requirements
Degree or HND in Electrical / Automation / Controls Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in electrical and commissioning of automated machinery.
Experience with electrical standards and safety regulations relevant to automation equipment.
Ability to read detailed electrical schematics.
Hands-on experience with electrical fault-finding, wiring, and commissioning.
Willingness to travel (domestic and international) for on-site commissioning and support.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong problem-solving ability with a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
Desired Requirements
Experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or other regulated industries.
Familiarity with validation and documentation requirements (IQ, OQ, PQ).
Understanding of servo and motion control systems.
Knowledge of networked automation systems (Ethernet/IP, Profinet).
Ability to train end-users and provide technical support post-installation.
