Qualcomm’s Open Source Engineering (OSEng) team enables Qualcomm to use, contribute to, and distribute products with open‑source software. OSEng influences policy, analyzes software composition, and builds and maintains the tooling and infrastructure that support these activities. The team has multi‑disciplinary experience spanning full‑stack development, infrastructure, and compliance.
Your work will include developing web applications, services, automation, and workflows to generate Software Bills of Materials (SBOMs), optimize the open‑source review process, and support open development at Qualcomm. You will develop the applications and systems that power these efforts. This includes integrating with engineering tools and systems, troubleshooting and scripting in a Linux environment, reviewing data to troubleshoot issues, and working with IT and release engineering to investigate problems in engineering environments. You will interact directly with end‑users and stakeholders across the company to resolve problems, gather requirements, and provide support to our compliance, legal, and product engineering teams.
Please note: this role requires 5 days per week onsite in our Cork office.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain, and support full‑stack web applications and services.
Build and extend automation and workflows to optimize the open‑source review process.
Collaborate with end‑users to gather requirements and resolve issues.
Required Skills
3–5 years of relevant software development experience.
Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle.
Understanding of web service, application, and microservice architectures.
Strong Python web development experience.
Expertise with Django and React.
Experience building asynchronous task pipelines with Celery and RabbitMQ.
Solid SQL skills; experience with PostgreSQL preferred.
Proficiency with Git.
Comfortable working in a Linux environment, including shell scripting and troubleshooting.
Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
Proactive and self‑directed, with a strong sense of ownership over the quality and outcomes of your work.
Detail‑oriented with the ability to document issues and resolutions clearly.
Preferred Skills
Experience with the open‑source ecosystem, license compliance tooling (FOSSID, ScanCode‑toolkit), and SBOM standards (SPDX, CycloneDX).
Experience with additional front‑end frameworks (Redux, RTK).
Experience with Docker and writing Dockerfiles.
Familiarity with Kubernetes or container orchestration.
Understanding of open‑source licensing models and compliance workflows.
Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or Prefect.
Experience with AI‑assisted development tools and workflows.
Experience developing applications using LLMs or agentic frameworks.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
2+ years of academic or work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
