Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As an EHS Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of our employees and the sustainability of our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide EHS Advice and Support: Offer expert guidance and support to site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders on assigned projects to maintain a safe working environment.
* EHS Coordination: Coordinate day-to-day EHS activities across multiple sites, reporting directly to the EHS Manager, to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
* Project-Specific Plans: Collaborate with project teams to develop, update, and implement project-specific EHS plans and RAMS to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.
* Audit and Inspection: Conduct thorough site audits and inspections, produce corrective action plans, and follow up on implementation to identify areas for improvement.
* Training and Development: Lead site inductions, toolbox talks, and targeted training sessions as required to enhance employee knowledge and skills.
* Incident Investigation: Investigate incidents thoroughly, establish root causes, and propose effective preventative actions to minimize the risk of future incidents.
* EHS Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date site EHS documentation to ensure statutory compliance and facilitate decision-making.
* New Site Setup: Ensure new project sites are set up to full EHS standards, including signage, documentation, and PPE, to maintain a safe working environment.
* Contractor Competence: Monitor contractor competence and oversee proper appointment procedures to ensure all contractors meet our EHS standards.
* KPI Reporting: Provide regular KPI reports and contribute to continuous improvement across the business to drive excellence in EHS performance.
* Liaison and Communication: Liaise with clients, main contractors, and other third parties on all EHS matters to maintain open communication and collaboration.
* Internal and External Meetings: Attend and contribute to internal and external safety meetings to share best practices and stay informed about industry developments.
Requirements:
* Education and Qualifications: A degree in a relevant field, such as environmental science or occupational health and safety, and/or equivalent experience.
* Experience: Proven experience in EHS, preferably in a similar role or industry.
* Skills and Knowledge: Strong understanding of EHS principles, regulations, and industry standards; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
* Personal Qualities: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to EHS management.
