The Hospital is seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to sit on the Board of Governors. The Board comprises of 10 members and the presence of a psychiatrist is very important so that the board can exercise proper governance over the activities of the Hospital. The Psychiatrist would assist the other Board members in better understanding psychiatric issues that come before the Board. It is vital that there should be with that expertise on the Board so that appropriate governance could be carried out in the best interests of the patients under the care of St Vincent's Hospital Fairview. The Board is undertaking the construction of a new state of the art hospital and the input of a psychiatrist to this development would be very important. In addition their input to the future strategic direction of the hospital would be invaluable. There are 7 scheduled board meetings per year. If the situation requires it there may be others but this would only be in exceptional circumstances. The successful candidate would also sit on the board Quality, Safety and Risk Committee sub-committee. This committee meets 4 times per year. This is a non-remunerated position. The meetings are held in the boardroom of the Hospital on the last Friday of the month and also via Microsoft Teams.
