It also offers a range of educational diplomas and courses for learners in the wider healthcare sector.Position:Role: Learning Experience DesignerDuration: Maternity Leave - Specific PurposeSalary: €57,000Closing date: 30 January 2026 at 17:00Post SummaryThe purpose of the role is to design and develop postgraduate medical education programmes, ranging from short CPD / CME to MSc offerings. As the RCPI teaching and learning specialist assigned to each programme or course, you will work with internal colleagues and subject experts to design and quality assure educational programmes and learning activities in a variety of formats, such as elearning, simulation, classroom-based training, and live instructor-led webinars.Role OutlineThe successful candidate will work within the Training, Education, and Lifelong Learning Department to:1.Design curricula and develop compelling learning activities underpinning RCPI training programmes and postgraduate courses. You will collaborate with internal teams, clinical subject experts, and other stakeholders to design immersive learning experiences and digital content.2.Ensure existing programmes and courses are consistently delivered to a high standard, including feedback monitoring and review.Your expertise in instructional design, project management, multimedia development, stakeholder management, and technical skills will be crucial in creating and quality assuring effective and interactive online learning experiences.Specific duties include, but are not limited to:Stakeholder and Project ManagementManage small, medium and large-scale projects including programme and course development, internal reviews, programme reviews, course assessment development, etc.Maintain communication and collaboration with stakeholders, including SMEs, external vendors, third parties, collaborative delivery partners, and internal colleagues.Manage projects from inception to the roll-out, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned and informed throughout the process.Teaching and Learning DesignCollaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify the training needs of the target audience and gather insights to inform the development of instructional materials.Develop learning outcomes based on learning needs.Apply learning theories and design principles to create effective programme curricula, schemes of assessment, and design plans, including storyboards, for learning content.Ensure RCPI education offerings are standardised and aligned to relevant national and international guidelines.Production of Learning ContentCollaborate with digital designers and learning technology colleagues to oversee the end-to-end production process of new and updated programmes and courses (e.g. diplomas, short courses)Ensure the quality and functionality of programmes and courses through continuous review.Upload, organise, and monitor learning content and assessments within the virtual learning environment (VLE).Development of Instructional MaterialsAuthor elearning content and develop instructor-led materials, including slides, facilitator guides, and learner guides.Create visually engaging learning aids such as infographics etc.Programme Management and Quality AssuranceParticipate in the ongoing development and quality assurance of RCPI education offerings.Research and DevelopmentConvert research and national and international standards to practical and implementable educational initiativesRepresent RCPI at national and international medical education conferences.Requirements:Professional Knowledge and ExperienceQualification at Ireland NFQ Level 9, or higher major academic award in Education, Healthcare, Psychology or other relevant discipline.Minimum of three years' experience in a comparable education role involving the development of training or educational programmes.Up-to-date knowledge of current trends and best practice in the postgraduate education sector and digital learning technologies.Demonstrated capacity to convert evidence based best practices in education, and national and international standards to practical and implementable educational initiatives.Sound understanding of education development and quality assurance of educational programmes.Advanced IT capability with MS products, on-line development tools, accessibility requirements and an understanding of Learning Management Systems.Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication SkillsStrong partnering skills and ability to build impactful relationships with key stakeholders.Proven capability to actively listen to, comprehend, and interpret stakeholder needs.Experience of working collaboratively and cross functionally with multiple internal and external stakeholders including third party vendors.Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) and ability to work with wide ranging groups and individuals.Workload and Project ManagementProven ability to structure and organise workloads utilising established procedures to ensure projects have clear and measurable objectivesDemonstrated capability to lead and be accountable for the delivery of agreed objectives and outputsProven experience in creating and maintaining project documentation and in providing regular reports on progress and outcomes.Flexibility and a willingness to adapt, positively demonstrating the organisation's values in your work.Evidence of proactively identifying areas for improvement and developing practical
