The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join the site team for a major renovation project at a prominent Dublin hospital, scheduled to commence in October. You will ensure all works are accurately positioned according to design drawings and control surveys throughout the construction programme.
Key Responsibilities:
• Interpret and verify design drawings, coordinate setting-out activities, and transfer site coordinates to construction teams
• Use total stations, robotic instruments, and survey software to establish and check levels, gridlines, and structural reference points
• Produce and maintain daily setting-out records, as-built survey data, and progress reports
• Liaise with Project Managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure accurate alignment of structural and architectural works
• Conduct site checks, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions promptly
• Support QA/QC by verifying dimensions, tolerances, and compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards
• Coordinate handover of survey data for fit-out and service installations
Requirements:
• 1-3 years' experience as a Setting Out or Site Engineer within the Irish construction market
• Proficient with total stations, GPS equipment, Robotic Total Stations, and survey software (e.g., Trimble, Leica)
• Strong understanding of construction methods, tolerances, and BCAR requirements
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, or related discipline
