Job Title: Mechanical CraftspersonLocation:Midleton Distillery & Dungourney (Onsite Role)Contract:PermanentReporting to:Mechanical Team LeadRole PurposeThe Mechanical Craftsperson is responsible for maintaining, improving and increasing the reliability of plant and equipment at Midleton Distillery and Dungourney sites. The role supports safe, compliant and efficient operations through the delivery of planned, preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance, reliability-based maintenance practices and accurate use of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (PEMAC).The role operates in accordance with agreed engineering procedures, safety standards and collective agreements and forms part of a 24-hour maintenance support model.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out mechanical maintenance activities in a safe manner and in line with Quality, Safety, Environment (QSE) and Engineering policies, procedures and standardsPerform planned and preventative maintenance as part of the site reliability and asset care programmeTroubleshoot and fault-find mechanical issues within plant and process equipmentAccurately record maintenance activities in the CMMS (PEMAC), ensuring data integrity and traceabilitySupport continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, downtime reduction and asset performanceParticipate in the on-call roster and provide maintenance cover in line with the annualised hours agreementComply fully with control of work processes, Engineering SOPs and Permit to Work requirementsParticipate in engineering projects, installations and commissioning activities as requiredMaintain a safe, organised working environment in line with housekeeping and asset care standardsContribute to operational team improvement activities and site initiativesSupport annual shutdown activities as requiredQualifications, Skills & CompetenciesEssential RequirementsRecognised mechanical trade qualification (or equivalent)Experience working in a production or manufacturing environmentAbility to carry out mechanical maintenance safely and in line with site proceduresExperience troubleshooting and fault-finding mechanical equipmentAbility to work as part of a shift-based and on-call maintenance teamStrong commitment to safety, quality and compliance standardsTechnical / Functional SkillsPlanned, preventative and corrective mechanical maintenanceUse of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), including job logging and reporting (e.g. PEMAC or equivalent)Mechanical systems maintenance, including rotating equipmentUnderstanding of reliability-based maintenance and asset care principlesFault diagnosis and root cause analysisParticipation in equipment installation, commissioning and shutdown activitiesKnowledge of permit to work and control of work systemsDesirable / Advantageous SkillsExperience in a distillery, food, beverage or regulated manufacturing environmentExposure to pumps, grain handling or similar process equipmentFamiliarity with continuous improvement methodologiesUnderstanding of cost, efficiency and downtime drivers in manufacturingBehavioural & Personal CompetenciesSafety-focused and diligent in approach to workStrong problem-solving and analytical thinkingGood communication and interpersonal skillsOrganised with good time management skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a teamFlexible and adaptable in response to changing operational prioritiesDemonstrates a continuous improvement mindsetAligns with company values and ways of workingWhat We OfferIrish Distillers offers a supportive and collaborative working environment, with a strong focus on safety, development and employee wellbeing.
