This newly created role for the team will include managing daily accounting operations, overseeing financial reporting to management, ensuring compliance with internal policies & external regulations, and overseeing all budgeting & forecasting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and submit comprehensive monthly financial statements, analyse results, and highlight trends and deviations to management.
2. Assist in creating and managing budgets and forecasts and analyse financial performance against these goals.
3. Maintain an effective cash management system and forecast cash needs to ensure the business has adequate funds.
4. Establish and manage internal financial controls and policies to safeguard assets, ensure accountability, and mitigate risks.
5. Oversee the accounting office staff, provide coaching, mentoring, and career development to attract, retain, and develop the team.
6. Provide financial reports and analysis to department managers to help them understand their performance and develop action plans for improvement.
7. Ensure all financial activities comply with accounting processes, policies, and relevant financial laws and regulations.
8. Coordinate with auditors and assist with internal audits and the preparation of required financial documentation.
A qualified accountant with 5-10 years PQE, prior experience in the industry is essential. A strategic mindset with a pragmatic approach to drive operational excellence and financial growth. Expertise in general ledger, financial statement preparation, and month-end closing procedures. Exceptional ability to interpret financial data, identify issues, and provide actionable insights.
Proven ability to lead and mentor an accounting team, strong written and oral communication skills to liaise with management and staff. A high level of organisation and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all financial matters. Competence in various financial management software and systems used by dealerships. Experience in CDK/Autoline is a major advantage.
