A leading food production company in Longford is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join its site leadership team. This is a key role with responsibility for leading engineering operations within a highly automated manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be a hands‑on engineering leader, comfortable working on the factory floor while also providing structure, direction, and people leadership within the engineering function.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage engineering activities to support safe, reliable, and efficient site operations
Drive equipment uptime and performance to support production targets
Manage and develop a team of engineers and external service contractors
Oversee preventative maintenance programmes and engineering planning
Work closely with Operations and other departments to prioritise engineering support
Control engineering budgets, costs, and maintenance resources
Promote strong health & safety standards and ensure compliance with site and regulatory requirements
Contribute to continuous improvement, capex projects, and longer‑term engineering strategy
Criteria
Trade‑qualified engineer with strong hands‑on manufacturing experience
Proven experience leading engineering teams in a food, pharma, or similar FMCG environment
Strong technical problem‑solving skills within automated production environments
Experience managing maintenance systems, contractors, and engineering budgets
A practical leadership style with the ability to influence across departments
Strong communication, planning, and organisational skills
