A dynamic and results-driven Farm Manager is required to lead our farm operations in Co. Wexford.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in farm management, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to innovative and sustainable practices.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement strategic farm plans and budgets to achieve production goals and maximize profitability.
* Plan and manage crop cultivation activities, including seed selection, planting, fertilization, irrigation, pest and weed control, and harvesting.
* Monitor crop health, growth, and quality throughout the growing season, implementing corrective measures as needed to ensure optimal yields and crop quality.
* Implement sustainable farming practices to promote soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity on the farm.
* Supervise and train farm workers and labourers, providing guidance, instruction, and support to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
* Maintain farm infrastructure and equipment, including buildings, fences, irrigation systems, and machinery, ensuring proper maintenance, repair, and replacement as needed.
* Develop and manage financial reports, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving measures to achieve financial targets.
* Keep accurate records of farm activities, including crop production, inputs usage, and financial transactions.
* Stay informed about advancements in agricultural technology, crop genetics, and farming practices, and implement relevant innovations on the farm.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, or relevant experience.
* Proven experience in farm management, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
* Deep knowledge of crop cultivation, and sustainable farming practices.
* Familiarity with modern farm equipment and machinery, including tractors, planters, harvesters, and livestock handling facilities.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively supervise farm workers and collaborate with team members.
* Commitment to environmental stewardship, and food safety standards.
* Ability to analyse data, make informed decisions, and solve problems related to farm operations.
* Proficiency in farm record-keeping and data management software.
* Valid driver's license and willingness to operate farm equipment as needed.
* Flexibility to work long hours, including weekends and holidays, during peak seasons such as planting and harvest.
