is hiring a
Lead Data Engineer
for a rapidly growing tech company in retail analytics and financial automation.
You'll take ownership of building a new cloud data platform as the business moves from on-prem SQL Server/SSIS to a modern cloud environment. This is a hands-on technical lead role with real influence over architecture, tooling, and data strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead design and delivery of a new cloud data platform.
* Migrate SQL Server, SSIS, and Python workflows to the cloud.
* Build scalable ingestion pipelines for ePOS, accounting, and third-party data.
* Implement data quality, validation, monitoring, and lineage.
* Optimise Power BI datasets and performance.
* Partner with software engineering on integrations.
* Define standards for modelling, cost control, and operational excellence.
* Support long-term data, analytics, and AI roadmap.
Experience & Skills
* 5+ years in data engineering or data platform development.
* Strong SQL Server expertise (modelling, optimisation, ETL).
* Cloud data platform experience (Azure/AWS/GCP).
* Skilled in modern pipelines, orchestration, and transformations.
* Power BI modelling and performance tuning.
* Solid understanding of governance, lineage, and reliability.
* Strong problem-solving and communication.
Nice to Have:
ADF, dbt, Airflow; AI/ML exposure; retail/financial/SaaS experience; CI/CD for data platforms.
