Engineer - System Support & Analysis

The Team
System Support & Analysis manages technical and commercial functions such as budget setting, tariff calculations, market unit commissioning, technical performance management, data verification, renewables reporting and settlement.
The team supports System Operations & Markets, provides expertise for new systems and major projects, and analyses ad-hoc queries that require technical/commercial insight.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an Engineer to join this team to bridge the gap between development and operations, ensuring secure and economic system services for all consumers.
The role will support the registration, commissioning, testing and decommissioning of market participants, maintain technical data and market outcomes, and contribute to the evolution of the transmission network.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with Commissioning & Testing to conduct multidisciplinary analysis of technical problems.
Propose solutions, processes and methodologies.
Prepare presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Manage technical data and market outcomes throughout the asset lifecycle.
Provide expertise to System Operations & Markets and support future development projects.
Qualifications
Engineering degree or equivalent, with at least 2 years post-qualification experience in the electricity industry, especially system operations or markets.
Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and energy decarbonisation targets.
Excellent technical, analytical, financial tracking and problem-solving skills.
Innovative and solution-focused, able to deliver within timelines.
Strong team player with ability to work independently and initiative.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage industry and senior management.
Ability to translate policy and concepts into rules, codes and standards.
Desirable
Knowledge of the SEM and European energy markets.
Experience in system operations within the electricity industry.
Project management experience or professional certification.
Plant testing experience, including OEM factory testing and commissioning support.
