Role TitleRole Title: Clinical Nurse Manager I: Margaret Kehoe WardJob Reference NumberJob Reference Number: 002326Closing DateClosing Date: Sunday 10th May 2026Purpose of the RoleThe post holder will be responsible for the education and development of nursing staff, by means of in-service training, orientation of new staff and by arranging the clinical experience and supervision of the nursing team.ResponsibilitiesProvide orientation and supervision for new nursing staff, ensuring they are aware of the policies and procedures to be followed.Identify training needs of the nursing and Health Care Assistant team whilst providing guidance and support where necessary.Encourage evidence based practice, using a care planning approach to nursing care. Monitor and evaluate the care given.In consultation with the CNM II and other disciplines, implement and assess quality management programme.Collaborate with medical, paramedical, and others to devise a plan of care. Ensure it is implemented and evaluated.Engage with key stakeholders to ensure high standards of care are delivered and maintained for patients, staff, and visitors.Proactively manage quality and safety standards at local level.Depute for the CNM II as required.Registered Nurse must adhere to Code of Professional Practice and Behaviour.Be aware of and understand the need to adhere to Hospital and/or professional standards, policies, and procedures relevant to their area of practice.Communicate effectively in English language, written and spoken, as appropriate to job requirement.Participate and cooperate with legislative and regulatory requirements in relation to Health and Safety as outlined in the Safety, Health and Welfare Act 2005 and the Hospital Safety Statement.Ensure own mandatory learning and training is kept up to date.* The above Role Profile is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties involved and consequently the post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post which may be assigned to them from time to time and to contribute to the development of the post while in office. This Role Profile will be subject to review in the light of changing circumstances.RequirementsRegistered General Nurse with The Nursing Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible to register.3 years post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting or relevant clinical area within the last 5 years.Demonstrated management/in-charge experience within the last year.Experience in teaching and assessing the nursing and Health Care Assistant team.Working knowledge of healthcare patient record systems.
