Civil Project Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Civil Project Engineer to join our team at vanrath. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced civil engineer with project management expertise to contribute to large-scale public sector infrastructure projects while ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support project sponsors and business units in identifying project needs and requirements.
* Analyse data to establish clear objectives and success measures.
* Lead and coordinate option assessment and feasibility studies.
* Manage projects through the necessary governance processes, ensuring compliance with public sector regulations.
* Provide technical engineering insight and analysis.
* Oversee the coordination, implementation, and control of engineering projects, covering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning/handover.
* Ensure clear and consistent communication across all project phases using best practice project controls.
* Manage and resolve issues with stakeholders, design teams, and contractors to optimise project outcomes.
* Ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are identified and managed within project governance frameworks.
Essential Criteria:
* BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering or related degree.
* At least five years of experience in engineering and construction projects.
* Knowledge and experience in applying CDM Regulations.
* Familiarity with procurement, tender documentation, and standard conditions of contract (e.g., JCT, FIDIC, ICC, NEC).
* Proficiency in Auto CAD and Microsoft Office software packages.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Criteria:
* Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards it).
* Eight years of post-graduate experience, including a lead role on significant engineering projects.
* Experience in large-scale public infrastructure projects.
* Background in project management, design, and site-based practical experience.
* Experience in estimating and budget control.
* Understanding of the planning system and environmental assessments.
* Knowledge of asset management and structural inspections.
