Arcadis DPS are seeking an Electrical Engineer for the Capital Projects team, on a pharmaceutical assignment in Rathdrum, South Wicklow. Providing electrical engineering oversight to ensure all electrical systems are designed, installed, commissioned, and maintained in compliance with cGMP. 12‑month contract initially.
Role Overview
Provide site‑based electrical engineering leadership for capital projects and upgrades, supporting delivery from design through commissioning and handover in a GMP and ATEX‑regulated environment. The role has end‑to‑end ownership of electrical scope execution, contractor oversight, technical governance, and safe installation.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Electrical Scope Ownership

Lead electrical scope for capital projects and upgrades, including MV/LV power distribution, PCS/automation power & control infrastructure, UPS/backup systems, and enabling works.
Ensure electrical design and installation meet site, GMP, ATEX, and safety standards from design through handover.
Define electrical deliverables: drawings, specifications, schedules, installation packs, test plans, and handover dossiers.

Site Execution & Contractor Oversight

Act as site electrical lead for contractors: daily supervision, competence checks, RAMS review, permit‑to‑work and LOTO enforcement.
Drive right‑first‑time installation via inspections, hold points, punch list management, and defect close‑out.
Participate in design reviews, walkdowns, and construction inspections; identify issues early and drive resolution.

Electrical Installation & Integration

Oversee and approve:
Electrical rooms, routing, segregation, accessibility, and maintainability
Cable containment and routing (tray, ladder, conduit, fire stopping, supports)
Cable pulling, termination, glanding, labelling, and protection
Panel and equipment locations (MCCs, VSDs, PLC/PCS panels, marshalling cabinets, isolators)
Coordinate electrical interfaces with automation, instrumentation, and OEM vendors (power, interlocks, IO, earthing, EMC).

ATEX / Hazardous Area Compliance

Ensure compliant equipment selection, installation, earthing/bonding, glanding, and segregation in hazardous areas.
Own ATEX verification, inspection regimes, and documentation required for compliant handover.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover

Ensure execution and recording of required electrical testing (IR, continuity, EFL, relay/RCD testing, functional checks).
Support FAT/SAT, energisation readiness, and safe energisation plans.
Deliver complete, compliant turnover packs (as‑builts, certificates, O&Ms, spares, asset data).

Technical Governance & Documentation

Maintain control of electrical documentation (SLDs, layouts, schematics, cable schedules, termination diagrams).
Ensure drawings and records are accurate, approved, and reflect installed conditions.

Cross‑Functional & Safety Leadership

Work closely with Engineering, Automation/ITOT, Operations, EHS, and Quality to manage interfaces and prevent downtime.
Lead electrical safety standards on site, including permits, LOTO, and safe isolation practices.
Participate in risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations; drive CAPAs to completion.

Quality System Ownership

Act as System Owner / Sub‑System Owner for relevant electrical quality systems:
Provide strategic oversight, governance, and continuous improvement
Support and coach Sub‑System Owners
Own compliance plan actions and contribute to Quality Council reviews
Maintain documentation and inspection readiness

Cost & Planning

Provide electrical input to capital submissions and manage scope forecasting (materials, labour, spares).
Support and execute minor electrical works aligned to the site upgrade programme.
