Support Worker Opportunity

\

CoAction West Cork provides quality services to support children and adults with an intellectual disability, and children with autism. Our team is dedicated to helping each service user reach their full potential by working in partnership with their families and carers within the community.

\

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting individuals with varying needs and a desire to make a positive impact in their lives. As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for assisting our Instructor and/or Social Care Leader in the planning, developing, implementing and reviewing specified programmes that promote innovation, independence, and a sense of achievement for our service users.

\

The role requires awareness of the individuality of each person, including their interests, likes/dislikes, abilities, and means of communication. You will be expected to treat each person with dignity and respect while promoting a friendly and supportive environment.

\

Key responsibilities include:

\
\
1. Assisting in the personal care of people using our services where appropriate.
\
2. Reporting all accidents, incidents, and complaints in the appropriate manner.
\
3. Being an active advocate for the people using our services.
\
4. Ensuring confidentiality at all times.
\
5. Assisting with recreational activities such as outings and special events.
\
6. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and liaising with other relevant staff.
\
7. Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
\
8. Contributing positively to the overall development of CoAction and its services.
\
9. Providing exceptional customer service to parents and visitors to the Adult Services centre.

10. Following cash handling procedures as determined by the manager and/or accounts department.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

\
\
11. QQI (FETAC) level 5 in Healthcare or an equivalent qualification.
\
12. A Full Clean Irish Driver's Licence for manual vehicles.
\
13. Desirable qualifications include a relevant qualification in Learning Disabilities, Social Studies, Social Sciences, Nursing, or Childcare.
