Job Title: Banking Operations Team Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a driven and experienced banking operations leader with a passion for people management, performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and payments to join our client in West Ireland.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and develop a team of managers and staff engaged in key back office and customer fulfilment activities.
* Direct Debit setup and maintenance
* Handling of payment rejects
* Oversight of arrears management processes
* Customer queries received via post
* Drive operational excellence, ensuring all activities are completed within SLA and to the highest quality standards.
* Oversee secure messaging processes and convert incomplete deposit/current account applications through AML, ID&V, and funding actions.
* Ensure full compliance with regulatory obligations, payment scheme requirements, and internal policies.
* Identify and mitigate risks across all operational processes.
* Utilise technology and automation to improve efficiency, performance, and customer satisfaction.
* Set and manage productivity targets, with a focus on continuous improvement and cost containment.
* Develop and support front-line managers, fostering strong leadership across the unit.
* Collaborate closely with key internal stakeholders across Compliance, Risk, and Product to align on priorities and controls.
Requirements
* Strong understanding of payments processing and back-office financial operations.
* Strong SEPA / Swift experience
* Prior experience within an Irish bank desirable
* Proven track record in leading and motivating operational teams.
* Deep knowledge of regulatory requirements in the financial services sector.
* Highly organised and detail-oriented with a strong control mindset.
* Results-driven with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
* Able to translate strategic business goals into actionable team and individual targets.
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
* Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally at a senior level.
