 
        
        Job Description
The Engineering Officer is responsible for delivering safe network designs within the specified discipline. These design packs will be used by ESB Networks staff and/or contractors to carry out work safely on the Electricity Network.
The designs shall be carried out in line with relevant standards set down by ESB Network Assets and adhering to Company Standards. The role includes managing your own design workload, working independently, but also as part of a larger design team.
Key Responsibilities include:
 * Preparing high-quality designs; calculating costs; preparing capital approvals, work authorisations, protection settings, design drawings;
 * Measuring design clearances for 38k V, MV, and LV networks, including use of all associated IT systems;
 * Recording and updating the Distribution Network on the relevant IT systems;
 * Liaising and negotiating with Local Authorities, landowners, and other parties to obtain routes for underground cables and overhead lines in accordance with legislation and ESB policies;
 * Applying for and processing Road Opening Licences;
 * Processing Site Acquisition and Planning Permission applications as required;
 * Delivering an excellent customer service in line with ESB Networks Customer Charter;
 * Fulfilling the role of Designer under the Construction Regulations;
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
 * Advanced Level 6 Electrical Craft Certificate or a suitable Level 7 or higher qualification in Electrical, Electrical Services, Electronics, Mechanical, or other suitable alternative qualification with a sizeable electrical theory content;
 * A full clean EU driving licence;
 * Minimum of 3 years relevant experience;
 * Ability to translate scope and policy requirements into constructable designs;
 * Knowledge of ESB network assets;
 * Understanding and application of relevant approved Quality Management standards in ESB Networks.
