Overview
GEDON Executive is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist Roofing/Cladding Subcontractor in Galway, Ireland. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated professional with a strong subcontracting background to take commercial leadership on bespoke projects up to €10M across specialist Residential, Commercial, and Education sectors.
Responsibilities
* Commercial Management: Oversee all financial aspects of roofing and cladding projects, including budget preparation, cost control, forecasting, and detailed Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
* Contract Administration: Manage contractual obligations, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions of subcontracts (e.g., JCT, RIAI).
* Valuations & Claims: Prepare, submit, and negotiate monthly valuations and payment applications to the Main Contractor. Proactively manage and negotiate all variations and claims, ensuring commercial entitlement is secured.
* Procurement: Assist the Estimating team with tender submissions and manage the procurement of specialist materials and smaller sub-subcontract packages.
* Risk & Opportunity: Identify and manage commercial risks specific to envelope packages and exploit opportunities to maximise project profit margins.
* Client Liaison: Maintain strong, professional commercial relationships with the Main Contractor's commercial teams and the wider project stakeholders.
What You'll Bring
* Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor, with a significant background in a Subcontractor environment in Ireland or the UK.
* Sector Expertise: Direct commercial experience with Roofing, Cladding, Facades, or similar specialist envelope packages is highly desirable.
* Commercial Acumen: Exceptional numerical and analytical skills with a meticulous approach to financial control and reporting.
* Contractual Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of standard construction contracts (RIAI, JCT).
* Communication: Excellent negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills, essential for managing contractual relationships with main contractors.
* Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
