Exciting Career Opportunity Senior Operating Department Practitioner - Anaesthetics Full-time (37.5 hours per week) | Permanent | Candidate Criteria: Qualifications Registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) on the active Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Confirm annual registration with HCPC Post Graduate Operating Department Practitioner qualification or relevant clinical course.
(Desirable) Management Qualification (Desirable) Experience Must have 3 years post registration experience in an acute hospital setting, in the last 5 years.
With at least one of those years being within the specialty or related area.
Demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development Have the clinical, managerial, and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
Experience with an Electronic Health Record (Desirable) Preceptorship experience (Desirable) Knowledge of the Centricity High Acuity Anaesthesia system would be advantageous.
The Purpose of This Role: The Senior Operating Department Practitioner will work within a multidisciplinary team in the provision of a safe, effective, high-quality anaesthetic ODP service.
The post holder will play a key role in conjunction with nursing management in assisting theatre ODPs and nursing staff to provide high quality, evidence-based anaesthetic care.
Key Responsibilities: Possess specially focused knowledge and skills in anaesthesia and pre/post anaesthesia care, essential to the provision of quality care.
Be responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, implementation, and review of care for patients according to BSHS standards in conjunction with the CNMII.
Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate perioperative care to patients in accordance with HCPC standards, ensuring patient safety, dignity, and holistic support throughout the surgical pathway while working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team.
Practice perioperative care in accordance with current legislation, professional standards, and regulatory guidelines to ensure safe and ethical patient management throughout the surgical process.
Contribute to the formulation, development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to anaesthesia care.
In collaboration with the clinical team, make decisions regarding anaesthetic and post-anaesthetic care in accordance with agreed protocols.
Participate in the provision of patient care, to ensure the highest professional standards, using an evidence based approach.
