Job Title: Survey Tech
We are seeking a skilled Survey Tech to obtain and compute data relevant to measuring the Earth's features. This position will develop an understanding of the construction layout, conduct topographic analysis, and capture static measurements using best practices and standard operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collect field data using sophisticated measuring equipment
* Collaborate with project team to understand construction sequence
* Apply the use of GPS equipment to set lath for construction, including center and offsets while having the ability to field fit miscellaneous items
* Operate survey instruments to capture static measurements for various disciplines with verified horizontal and vertical residuals from client provided benchmarks
* Perform calculations to determine accurate elevations, distances, and angles for various construction projects
* Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, sketches, etc.
* Verify horizontal and vertical residuals daily using client provided benchmarks
* Search for section corners, property states, and survey points
* Position and hold the vertical rods or targets used for sighting to measure angles, distances, elevations, etc.
* Maintain and troubleshoot all GPS equipment as directed by Survey Equipment team
* Ensure equipment and tools are clean, properly powered down, and stored at the end of the business day
* Safely operate field tools and supplies to minimize the risk of injury and property damage
* Foster effective communication between surveying teams, engineering teams, and project management
* Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to integrate survey data into project plans
* Provide regular updates on surveying progress, challenges, and solutions to site and office management
* Work independently and as an active member of the team
* Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
* Educational Requirements:
o Associate or Bachelor's degree in surveying, remote sensing, drafting, engineering, or related technical field preferred
* Work Experience Requirements:
o One year of survey experience in construction or operations with exposure to engineering, civil, or renewable energy activities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Takes reasonable care of their own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by working toward the Company's Zero Injury principles
* Effective verbal and written communication
* Computer literacy and well-developed file management
* Preferred comprehension of ALTA Surveys and various schematics
* Preferred understanding of surveying software (e.g., Trimble Business Center, MAGNET Office, or Civil 3D)
* Ability to problem-solve
* Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
