Main Purpose of the Job
Driving force is recruiting for a
Transport Planner
for full time, permanent position to join a dynamic team and play a key role in managing the day-to-day activities of a fast-paced and complex transport/distribution operation. While the core shift is 10:00-18:00, Monday to Friday, flexibility may be required to provide cover for the wider Transport Team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Plan daily driver routes in full compliance with transport regulations, including Tachographs, drivers' hours, and SOPs, using company IT systems.
* Develop and refine the transport delivery schedule to enhance service levels for customers and internal stakeholders.
* Ensure all fleet and driver operations meet legislative guidelines, escalating and rectifying any breaches immediately.
* Liaise with drivers and third-party carriers to address transport-related queries.
* Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
* Ensure timely dispatch of all loads.
* Take full ownership and accountability for assigned responsibilities.
* Support day-to-day operations to help achieve departmental and company KPIs.
* Review and monitor driver performance using appropriate IT systems.
* Monitor and report on Tachograph records and driver working hours.
* Monitor and report on driver performance using tools such as Cubo and Orbcomm.
* Liaise closely with the Maintenance Manager to support fleet maintenance scheduling.
* Provide accurate input to the Operations Manager to support periodic reporting.
Requirements
* Previous experience in transport planning or a similar role within the transport/distribution sector.
* Strong understanding of transport regulations, including Tachographs and drivers' hours.
* Proficiency in transport planning systems and route optimisation tools.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
* A proactive, ownership-driven approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
