(12) Months, Fixed Term, Full-time post. The National Perinatal Epidemiology Centre (NPEC) provides the Irish maternity services with a facility to undertake in-depth reviews of their own medical practices, through monitoring maternity outcomes and regular audit. The overall objective of the Centre is to collaborate with the maternity services to translate clinical audit data and epidemiological evidence into improved care for families in Ireland. The Centre conducts a number of national clinical audits on an annual basis, as well as investigating pertinent research topics in maternal and perinatal health. As part of its work, the NPEC collaborates with midwives, obstetricians, academics, neonatologists, administrators and patients from around the country. The NPEC is based in the UCC Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Cork University Maternity Hospital. The role involves analysis of national perinatal data to support clinical audit and healthcare improvement. This role includes conducting statistical analyses to identify trends, outcomes, and risk factors related to maternal and neonatal health. It also involves contributing to ensuring data quality, preparing reports, and supporting research that informs evidence-based policy and practice in maternity care. The successful candidate will provide research assistance across the clinical audits.
