Operations Manager Job Description
The Operations Manager is a key role in ensuring the day-to-day oversight and strategic management of all transport operations, guaranteeing compliance, efficiency, and safety across the fleet and driver team.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Compliance & Records Management:
* Maintain accurate folders, licenses, and regulatory documentation to ensure compliance.
* Manage accident/incident records and collaborate with third parties as needed.
* Ensure adherence to health, safety, and company policies at all times.
2. Fleet & Scheduling Operations:
* Oversee vehicle scheduling in collaboration with maintenance, aligning with service needs, driver capability, and legal requirements.
* Manage the driver roster, including daily and on-call operations, to optimize efficiency.
* Monitor and reconcile operational data, including lost kilometres and smart tachograph implementation.
3. Driver & Staff Management:
* Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of drivers and operations staff to enhance performance.
* Approve annual leave and assign responsibilities to team members.
* Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback to drive growth and improvement.
4. Incident & Service Management:
* Act as the first responder for operational incidents, coordinating with internal departments as needed.
* Conduct handovers and ensure smooth weekend and emergency coverage to maintain continuity.
5. Strategic Planning & Coordination:
* Support the Head of Operations and Director General Manager in planning and reporting to achieve company goals.
* Implement operations strategies aligned with company objectives.
* Collaborate with finance for capacity planning and with engineering for fleet readiness.
