Our client is a structural engineering firm in Dublin specialising in data centres and energy infrastructure. They now require a Senior Commercial Manager to join their team.
Role Purpose
As a Senior Commercial Manager, you will lead the commercial strategy and financial governance for a portfolio of mission-critical data centre and large-scale energy projects across Ireland. You will be responsible for protecting project margins, managing complex international contracts, and mentoring a high-performing commercial team to ensure efficient project delivery from inception to final account.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Commercial Oversight: Lead and manage all commercial aspects of multi-million Euro data centre and energy projects, ensuring alignment with corporate financial objectives.
* Contract Management: Administer major infrastructure contracts, including NEC3/4, FIDIC, and JCT. Manage negotiations, change orders, and risk mitigation to protect the company’s contractual position.
* Financial Reporting & Forecasting: Oversee cost planning, monthly cost-value reconciliations (CVRs), and long-term cash flow forecasting for complex, fast-paced builds.
* Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary commercial point of contact for hyperscale data centre operators and energy clients. Build and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners.
* Procurement Strategy: Work with procurement teams to implement effective strategies for Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) packages, monitoring supplier performance and value for money.
* Risk & Dispute Management: Identify and mitigate commercial risks early. Lead the resolution of claims and commercial disputes with clients or subcontractors.
What You’ll Bring (Requirements)
* Experience: 10 years of experience in Commercial or Civil/Structural Management. A proven track record in the Data Centre or Renewable Energy sectors is desirable.
* Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
* Qualifications: Professional membership in RICS, CIOB, or SCSI is highly desirable.
* Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of Irish construction law, financial modelling, and standard forms of contract (especially NEC suite).
* Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and leadership abilities, with the capacity to thrive in high-pressure, mission-critical environments.
