Base Pay Range
Position Title: Youth Worker
Employer: Crosscare
Location: The Den Finglas Youth Service
Work Schedule: 18.5 hours full‑time flexible working week including 2 evenings and occasional weekends as required.
Contract: Permanent
Salary: €38,769 – €57,011 pro‑rate DOE
Reporting to: Project Manager
The Role
Deliver Youth Programmes targeted at young people aged 10‑24, focusing on those identified as most in need in Finglas south. Collaborate with relevant agencies to provide meaningful experiences for young people.
General Responsibilities
* Implement programmes in line with funding requirements
* Spend 70% of working hours in direct contact with young people, with an emphasis on disadvantaged young people
* Ensure organised programmes fit within the Youth Work Process and Models of Youth Work
* Work a minimum of two nights per week
* Provide outreach and support to young people to engage in mainstream Youth Work and other community services
* Work in partnership with other Youth Officers to design, implement and evaluate project activities
* Organise seasonal programmes for young people, e.g. summer programme
* Attend staff meetings within the service
* Represent Finglas Youth Service at various committees when requested
* Submit all paperwork within specified time period
* Apply for relevant grants related to ongoing work in consultation with Line Manager
* Work within the ethos and values of Crosscare
* Implement the Crosscare Strategy
* Attend relevant training to the work
* Manage challenging behaviours and situations
* Work collaboratively with the existing team
* Carry out any other duties assigned by Line Manager
Essential Requirements
* Third level qualification and experience in youth work with high‑needs young people presenting challenging behaviour
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team and one‑to‑one basis
* Build and maintain effective relationships with young people, parents and wider community
* Good interpersonal skills and liaison with a wide range of organisations
* Excellent organisational, time management and record‑keeping skills
* Be proactive, use own initiative and work effectively within a challenging environment
* Positive and flexible approach to working as part of a team
* Follow organisational guidelines and processes
* Good standard of computer skills: Word, Excel, Internet, PowerPoint and social media use to engage young people
* Facilitation and group work skills

* Understanding of Crosscare work in Finglas and commitment to purpose and values
* Act professionally at all times
* Engage in regular supervision with Line Manager
* Familiar with UBU funding and reporting stream
* Driver's licence and bus licence desirable
