Position: Project Worker (Full Time)
Purpose of the Post: To work with the Service Manager and within the authority delegated to the post holder by the service manager; to assist in the day-to-day running of the service whilst remaining on the roster.
The Project Worker will be responsible for: processing referrals, conducting assessments, care/support planning and implementation, engaging with service users, supporting move on plans, managing maintenance issues, and delivering supervision.
The role includes recruiting, mentoring, and supporting staff and students to maintain high standards of social care practice. The post may also involve acting on behalf of the Service Manager and providing out-of-hours support.
Environment of the Post
GSCK provides emergency accommodation for up to 22 residents, 12 transitional, and one family emergency. The services are low threshold in nature.
Guidance and Authority
The post-holder reports to and is supervised by the Service Manager. They may supervise staff and act on behalf of the Service Manager during their absence, liaising with various stakeholders.
Principal Accountabilities & Key Indicators
Resident Support
* Lead shifts demonstrating high standards of social care practice.
* Respond effectively to service user needs, including referrals, key working, and move on.
* Ensure access to entitlements and support for service users.
Quality
* Maintain high standards of care, protecting and promoting the rights of service users.
* Work towards standards like Putting People First and the National Quality Standards Framework.
Communication
* Carry out duties aligned with GSCK values, ethos, and mission.
* Contribute to developing policies and procedures.
Staff Supervision
* Support, supervise, and develop staff and students.
* Recruit and induct new staff.
* Address staff grievances and support staff development.
Building & Maintenance
* Monitor health and safety standards.
* Manage maintenance systems.
Information Management & Confidentiality
* Develop and support information management systems.
* Ensure confidentiality and data protection.
Case Management
* Support case management and referral processes.
* Maintain case files and support review processes.
Research & Development
* Participate in research and audit projects.
* Contribute to service improvement initiatives.
Personal Development
* Engage in training and supervision.
* Maintain professional standards.
General Responsibilities
* Support new initiatives and comply with policies.
* Participate in monitoring and evaluation of services.
* Work flexibly, including out-of-hours as needed.
* Adhere to risk management and health & safety policies.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
* National Diploma in Applied Social Care Studies or equivalent.
* At least 2 years’ experience in residential social care, preferably in homelessness services.
* Leadership experience and working with challenging behaviors is a plus.
* Valid driver’s license.
Key Skills
* Knowledge of social care principles, supervision, health & safety, data protection, and case management.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Full clean driver’s license.
