About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced professional to take the lead in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) oversight across a wide portfolio of field-based infrastructure works. This position is key to ensuring best practices are embedded across operations, compliance is upheld across multiple regions, and a strong safety culture is consistently promoted.
You'll be joining a team that delivers critical services across both urban and rural areas. Initially, this is a
site-based role
, transitioning to a
hybrid setup (1 day remote per week)
following the successful completion of the probationary period.
What You'll Do
Strategic Oversight & Leadership
* Shape and drive the overall HSE vision and framework across multiple project teams and geographies.
* Align health and safety strategies with business objectives and evolving operational needs.
* Lead and mentor a dedicated team focused on risk management, worker welfare, and environmental performance.
Culture & Engagement
* Promote a culture of shared responsibility and continuous improvement in safety practices.
* Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, cross-functional departments, and third-party collaborators.
* Maintain positive working relationships with both internal teams and external oversight bodies.
Governance & Compliance
* Ensure systems and practices meet applicable regional legislation and recognised industry benchmarks.
* Oversee the development and auditing of safety documentation, site protocols, and compliance measures.
* Manage reporting processes and escalate key risks or incidents with clear corrective pathways.
Training & Operational Enablement
* Provide hands-on coaching and knowledge-sharing for operational leads, field crews, and management.
* Identify gaps in awareness or skills and coordinate targeted interventions to address them.
* Regularly review procedures and recommend refinements to support safer, more efficient ways of working.
Background & Experience
* 10+ years of experience in a health, safety, or environmental leadership role.
* Proven track record working within infrastructure-heavy environments such as field services, utilities, construction, or telecoms.
* Hands-on experience creating and implementing practical safety systems and site protocols.
* Familiarity with managing compliance across multiple regions or jurisdictions.
Qualifications & Training
* Diploma or degree in Health, Safety & Environment (Level 7/8).
* Membership of IOSH – ideally at Grad IOSH or CMIOSH level.
* CDM 2015/2016 qualification.
* NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate – preferred.
* Experience with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards.
* Fire Safety or Risk Assessment certification – a plus.

* Confident in designing and rolling out operational HSE initiatives from the ground up.
* Structured thinker with the ability to manage complex safety requirements in fast-paced environments.
* Solid reporting, risk evaluation, and documentation capabilities.
* Comfortable with digital tools and reporting systems.
