As a key member of our organization, the Chief Compliance Officer - Data Protection Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring our clients' organisations meet their significant privacy and information compliance obligations.
About This Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned data protection professional to join our team and contribute to delivering high-quality compliance services to our clients.
Responsibilities
* Inform and advise on data protection obligations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
* Monitor data processing activities and conduct thorough Data Protection Impact Assessments to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
* Manage Freedom of Information (FOI) and Access to Information on the Environment (AIE) services, ensuring all statutory requirements are met and client needs are satisfied.
* Act as the primary contact for the Data Protection Commission and manage all data subject access requests and data breaches in accordance with established protocols.
* Develop and deliver comprehensive compliance-related training and awareness programs to staff, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to support the organisation's compliance objectives.
* Champion data retention and records management policies, promoting a culture of compliance throughout the organisation.
Requirements
* A recognised third-level qualification at a minimum of NFQ Level 7 or equivalent, with expertise in data protection laws and regulations.
* A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a similar or relevant role, with a strong track record of managing and implementing data protection compliance programs.
* In-depth knowledge of data protection laws, including GDPR and FOI legislation, with the ability to interpret and apply them in complex scenarios.
* Strong communication and organisational skills, with a high attention to detail and ability to work independently.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with advanced skills in data analysis and reporting.
* A full Category B driver's license valid in Ireland and a willingness to travel to district offices as required.
