Job Description:
Maintenance Technician - County Wexford
The successful candidate will be part of the maintenance team with responsibilities for preventative and breakdown maintenance and the related documentation of the maintenance carried out.
The ideal candidate will have served an apprenticeship and will have at least 2 to 3 years of practical experience in a medium/large industry. A team player with the ability to work with people and give technical advice where required is essential.
The role:
1. Perform regular maintenance on existing systems and design maintenance schedules for all systems to ensure they remain in proper working order.
2. Carry out maintenance, diagnosis, calibration, and repair of plant, equipment, facilities, and utilities.
3. Troubleshoot and repair motors, mechanical circuits, and all mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, process, facility, and utility issues.
4. Perform routine and on-the-spot tests of all mechanical and electrical systems.
5. Follow Safety Regulations – follow and maintain all safety standards and regulations.
6. Write cost analysis reports for maintaining, upgrading, and repairing machinery and electrical systems.
7. Provide training for junior technicians where required.
8. All tools and parts used must be tracked and new items ordered as needed.
9. Executing preventative/unplanned maintenance.
10. Perform investigations and conduct root cause analysis.
11. Record all maintenance issues, machine changes, faults, breakdowns, spares required, and recommendations.
12. Carry out project work.
13. Ensure there is sufficient electrical and mechanical spares and flag shortfalls to management.
Skills and Qualifications required:
1. A strong grasp of mechanical and electrical systems and how they work.
2. Attention to detail.
3. Leadership skills.
4. Knowledge of schematics and blueprints.
5. Excellent communication skills for liaising with all departments.
6. Excellent level of English.
7. Understanding of mechanical systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, pumps, automation).
