Wills Bros are currently seeking an Assistant Procurement Manager to support our expanding portfolio of large-scale civil engineering projects. This role will be based at our Kiltimagh office in Co. Mayo and will report directly to the Procurement Manager.
You will assist in the sourcing, coordination, and management of procurement packages of varying scale, including major materials and subcontract packages.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the Procurement Manager with the delivery of large and complex procurement packages across multiple civil engineering projects.
* Support the tendering, evaluation, and award processes for materials, plant, and subcontract services.
* Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders in line with procurement strategies, project specifications, and programme requirements.
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and maintain accurate, up-to-date pricing information.
* Support the maintenance of procurement schedules, trackers, and project documentation to ensure accurate alignment with project needs.
* Assist with supplier assessments and contribute to the upkeep of supplier databases.
* Monitor order progress and coordinate with logistics teams and site personnel to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
* Help resolve delivery, quality, or invoicing issues in collaboration with the Procurement Manager.
* Work closely with commercial, engineering, and site teams to fully understand project requirements.
* Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and support value engineering opportunities where applicable.
* Ensure all procurement activities comply with company procedures, legal standards, and quality expectations.
Requirements:
* Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar procurement role within the civil engineering or construction sector essential.
* Relevant qualifications in Procurement, Construction Management, Engineering, is essential.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage procurement data and deadlines effectively.
* Good working knowledge of construction materials, plant, and subcontractor services.
* Familiarity with procurement processes, tendering, and contract documentation.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with procurement software is an advantage.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications (desirable but not essential).
* A willingness to learn and develop under the guidance of senior procurement staff.
