About Role: The Guinness Enterprise Centre is seeking a reliable and skilled Part-Time Maintenance Operative to support the day-to-day upkeep and presentation of our building in Dublin 8.
Supervised by our Senior Maintenance Operative, the successful candidate will be working closely with the GEC Operations Team.
The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of general maintenance, cleaning, and facilities support duties to ensure the GEC remains a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for all clients, members, and guests.
It is a 6 months fixed term contract initially.
Work Location: The GEC office in the Guinness Enterprise Centre.
This is a part-time (3 days per week) onsite role with in-person delivery.
Responsibilities: General Maintenance Ensure that a safe, secure and clean environment for staff, clients and visitors is maintained.
Carry out reactive and planned maintenance tasks across the building, including the clearance of blocked toilets, urinals and associated drainage.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and reported defects.
Provide first-line repairs for maintenance issues e.g leaks, plumbing, heating, electrical and kitchen power issues.
Carry out basic repairs to fixtures, fittings, doors, locks, and furniture.
Painting Decoration Painting including full surface prep, priming and finishing for building upgrade works.
Complete office refresh on client departures - repainting, recarpeting, partition installation.
Painting and touch ups in common areas to maintain GEC standards.
Recarpeting and flooring as part of office turnaround on client departures.
Assist with the installation, repair, and replacement of carpeting and floor coverings.
Carry out minor floor repairs and ensure floor surfaces are safe and well-maintained.
Cleaning, Janitorial and Grounds Maintenance Maintain external areas including pathways, entrances, carpark, flat roof and grounds Attend to and clear blockages in toilets, urinals, and associated drainage; sanitise affected areas and reinstate to full working order Building Safety Ensure compliance with all company Health Safety policies.
High standard of housekeeping, material handling and safety at all times.
Complete daily, weekly and monthly checks of H S equipment including fire safety checks: extinguishers, break glass units, aovs, and emergency lighting.
Supervise external contractors ensuring that work is completed to a satisfactory standard and place of work is returned to order.
Furniture Movement Client Moves - Work with the Operations team to maximise the use of space for new clients, including rearranging desks to accommodate teams.
For large building Events, assist the Events Team with furniture/equipment set up, tear down, cleaning and turnover for scheduled events.
Required Skills Experience Flexibility to work outside standard business hours, including occasional weekends, as operational needs require.
Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, with a willingness to learn quickly and adapt on the job.
Strong work ethic and a positive, reliable approach to tasks and responsibilities.
Training such as Safe Pass, Manual Handling, and First Aid is an advantage.
Where not already held, the company will provide training.
Excellent communication skills in English (both verbal and written).
Strong customer service skills, with the ability to engage professionally with clients, contractors, and team members.
Basic IT competency, including Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to complete paperwork, logs, and reports to a high standard of accuracy and detail.
Enthusiastic, proactive approach to work and willing to support a variety of tasks.
Professional and neat appearance and the ability to represent the company well onsite.
Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role (or equivalent relevant experience).
Physical Requirements Physically capable of performing the duties of the role, including manual handling tasks (in line with safe work practices).
Desirable A recognised trade qualification (not essential).
