Due to continued growth, new contracts and extensions, one of Irelands top Civil Contractors has an exciting opportunity for a reliable and enthusiastic Design Managerto join their team.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team to bring water and wastewater infrastructure projects from project brief stage to the detailed design stage and into Construction.
The successful Design Manager can work from the head office in Castlebar or any of the regional offices in Limerick/Tullamore/Kilkenny.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on existing frameworks and high-impact infrastructure projects while playing a key role in shaping the companys continued success.
Role: Lead the design team and any appointed consultants in all aspects of the design scope.
Perform preliminary and detailed design of water / wastewater treatment plants and infrastructure based on data provided; achieving contract specified goal Design and management of all aspects for Water and Wastewater delivery and collection networks and associated civil integration Work closely and collaboratively with all key stakeholders including clients, client representatives and third-party agencies Lead the design team and any appointed consultants in all aspects of the design scope Project tracking through commercial reporting, progress updates and programme management.
Developing hydraulic, energy, mechanical calculations as part of the detailed design.
Check/understand Specifications, Drawings and other Contract Documents.
Represent the company at design review workshops and HAZOPs, ensuring all resulting actions are closed in a timely manner.
Provide a review of final design and contract documentation and provide feedback.
Be an integral part of development of cost estimates for both design and construction phases.
Develop work packages and scope development for issuing to sub-contractors.
Other duties as required from time to time.
Requirements: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a similar role in the water and wastewater industry.
Experienced in civil and process engineering works such as temporary works, bulk earthworks, tank systems, building works, process units and M&E Installations.
Minimum of a Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Ability to work collaboratively with the client and their representatives in leading and developing design solutions.
Good working knowledge of programme management software such as Microsoft Project.
Ability to prepare baseline programmes and programme updates.
Ability to use own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise during project delivery.
Strong communication skills with a high level of motivation.
Full Driving License.
