Overview
Our Client is seeking an experiencedClient Technical Coordinator on a contract basis to lead the end-to-end design of a new laboratory facility. The ideal candidate will have direct experience managing laboratory design projects, coordinating with architect-led multidisciplinary design teams. Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and documentation skills are essential.
Scope of Service
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership & Delivery
1. Lead the laboratory design process, planning, coordination, and execution of the laboratory design.
2. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk logs.
3. Ensure alignment between design objectives, operational requirements, and regulatory/industry standards.
4. Manage the laboratory design process alongside the lead architect, ensuring all documentation, drawings, and supporting materials are coordinated, submitted on time, and tracked through to approval.
2. Laboratory Design Management
5. Work closely with the architect-led design team (inclusive of laboratory planners), and the scientific/veterinary specialists to define functional and technical requirements.
6. Review and challenge design proposals to ensure suitability, compliance, and efficiency.
7. Coordinate design iterations, design reviews, and approvals with key stakeholders.
8. Ensure design decisions incorporate safety, workflow, equipment, infrastructure, and compliance considerations.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
9. Act as the primary point of contact on behalf of internal stakeholders and senior leadership, with the architect-led design team.
10. Run project steering meetings, workshops, and coordination sessions.
11. Translate technical information into clear, actionable updates for non-technical stakeholders.
12. Manage expectations, resolve conflicts, and maintain strong collaborative relationships.
4. Documentation & Reporting
13. Produce and maintain all project documentation, including:Meeting notes and action logsChange control recordsDesign documentation trackersRisk, issue, and decision registersProgress reports to leadership
14. Ensure robust record-keeping and project governance throughout the contract.
Required Experience & Skills
Experience
15. Proven track record delivering end-to-end laboratory projects (design).
16. Experience working with architect-led design teams (inclusive of lab designers, M&E consultants).
17. Strong understanding of laboratory environments, equipment, workflows, and compliance requirements.
18. Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
19. Experience with construction project management, site supervision, and commissioning.
20. Experience/ suitable qualifications in a laboratory setting would be an advantage.

22. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear updates and documentation.
23. Confidence facilitating meetings, workshops, and stakeholder discussions.
24. Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing project needs.
25. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
26. Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana).
