Vacancy Description : The Dk IT Strategic Plan 2024-2028 advocates the embedding of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) principles across all its activities and the Institute sees it as vital that we respond through positive actions to the object of greater inclusion.
Dk IT is seeking to recruit an Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Officer to lead on EDI Initiatives, oversee the Institutes Athena Swan (Gender Equality) Action Plan and to coordinate future Athena Swan applications at Department and Institutional level.
The EDI Officer will work closely with Management and the EDI Committee to achieve strategic change in the areas of EDI for staff and students.
The EDI Officer will have responsibility for monitoring and reporting on action plans for Gender Equality and Race Equality and will support other protected grounds in line with our Public Sector Equality and Human Rights Duty.
They will take ownership of the work undertaken as part of our Bronze Renewal Institutional Athena Swan certification, under the expanded Athena Swan Ireland Charter, incorporating intersectionality as a key focus.
Specific areas of responsibility for this position include the following: Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Working alongside numerous cross Institute teams to develop and continuously review EDI related policies.
Provide advice and guidance as required on equality and diversity matters with reference to legislation, and national, sectoral and institutional policy; Ensure there is a positive EDI culture at Dk IT; Provide progress reports on EDI initiatives to the Equality Committee, the Executive Team and other Institute bodies as required; Collaborate with other stakeholders to develop initiatives, events and programmes that further EDI across the Institute; Act as secretary to the EDI Committee Organise and promote training to embrace the Athena SWAN Action Plan, Institute objectives and sectoral initiatives; Play a key role in organising Institute wide events, such as: o Diversity Week o International Womans Day o International Mens Day o Dk IT Loves STEM Attend, organise and contribute to committees and working groups such as, (not an exhaustive list): o National EDI Committees o Sectoral Race & Ethnicity Working Group o Respect/ESVH Working Group o Institute EDI Committee o Athena Swan Practitioners Committee o Athena Swan National Panels o Sectoral and Institute Race & Ethnicity Working Groups o Governing Body EDI Sub-committee o Campus Watch Committee o Autism Friendly Steering Group Engage and collaborate with relevant external bodies.
Represent Dk IT at relevant national events Work with colleagues throughout the sector on approved HEA Gender Enhancement Funded projects.
Preparation of the annual EDI Report and presentation.
Preparation of the Institutes Race Action Plan Preparation of the College of Sanctuary Application Monitor and update the EDI Webpage Answer any EDI related queries received to Athena SWAN Manage and lead the Athena SWAN application process- (project management experience is beneficial).
Support Athena SWAN self-assessment teams to prepare for submission of award applications; Analyse and present data for Athena SWAN self -assessment teams; Assist with the development of processes for collating relevant data that will expedite the preparation of future Athena SWAN submissions; Provide Athena SWAN progress updates and annual updates to a variety of audiences, to include Governing Body (and its subcommittees), Executive Board, academic, professional & support teams.
Other duties: Any other duties deemed suitable by the Vice President for Finance and Corporate Affairs (or a nominee thereof).
