Summary Of Duties
Due to continuous growth, an opportunity now exists for a Process Scientist to join our engineering team in the Galway site. The successful candidate will provide chemical and materials expertise to support the company\'s operations medical device portfolio.
Responsibilities
* Research new materials technologies to provide possible cost reductions, performance improvements, capacity increases and/or enable the development of new products.
* Provide chemical and polymeric materials support to refine existing products or troubleshoot problems with existing processes.
* Work with internal/external customers to develop needed materials, as they are needed.
* Evaluate work results, analyse causes for variances and recommend courses of action.
* May supervise the work of engineers/technicians or others who assist in specific assignments and work jointly with other engineers and the Value stream technical team.
* Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications.
* Investigate a moderate number of technical variables in completing assignments with clear and defined objectives.
* Perform work with conventional plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features where precedents exist.
* Develop test methods to verify hypotheses of chemical and materials technologies.
* Design and develop test methods to predict performance of polymeric materials, products and technologies.
* Work independently on standard projects while assistance is provided on unusual problems.
* Receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features and possible solutions.
* Perform work at a higher technical level for continuing training purposes.
* Work on special projects, write ECNs, and create prototypes under broad direction.
* May have authority over Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMRs).
* Performs other related duties and tasks as required.
Summary Of Minimum Qualifications
* Education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor\'s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or related technical field and 5+ years of related experience.
* Ability to apply analytical skills and scientific technical principles in problem solving and development.
* Demonstrated computer skills, preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.
* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
