Role Overview
The Irish accounting sector is experiencing a period of transition, with many small and owner-managed practices facing succession challenges due to partner retirements. This has created a unique opportunity for consolidation, practice acquisitions, and long-term growth.
Finmount Ltd is seeking a commercially focused Business Analyst to support the identification, evaluation, and integration of small accounting practices. The role will play a key part in analysing acquisition opportunities, assessing financial and operational viability, and supporting the smooth transition of acquired practices into the Finmount Ltd group.
Key Responsibilities
* Research and analyse the Irish accounting market to identify potential acquisition opportunities
* Evaluate financial performance, client portfolios, and operational structures of target practices
* Prepare financial models, valuations, and acquisition feasibility assessments
* Support due diligence processes, including analysis of financial statements, fees, staffing, and systems
* Work closely with senior management to develop acquisition and growth strategies
* Assist with post-acquisition integration, including process alignment and reporting
* Prepare management reports, dashboards, and recommendations to support decision-making
* Liaise with internal teams and external advisors as required
Key Requirements
* Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
* 1–3 years' experience in a Business Analyst, Financial Analyst, or advisory role
* Strong understanding of accounting practices, financial statements, and professional services firms
* Experience with financial modelling, valuation techniques, and data analysis
* Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* High level of discretion and professionalism
Desirable Experience & Skills
* Experience within an accounting firm, professional services, or M&A environment
* Knowledge of practice succession, mergers, or acquisitions
* Familiarity with Irish regulatory and professional standards
* Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI or similar tools is an advantage
