The Senior Dietician will report to the Dietetics Manager/Programme Manager. Responsibilities To provide a comprehensive dietetic service to the eating disorder service (initially)to include the following: Nutritional Assessment of referred service users from within St Patricks Mental Health Service Formulation of Nutritional Plans for each referred service user in consultation with Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Liaison with MDT in relation to service user progress Attend MDT meetings as required Documentation of nutritional plan agreed with service user To liaise with Catering Department on dietetic requirements for service users as required To develop a discharge nutritional plan with the MDTs and service users to facilitate a transition into home/community environment To liaise with other colleagues and external agencies as appropriate in relation to discharge plans for service users To deliver group based nutritional advice to service users Provide cover to the Eating Disorder Service MDT and provide specialist interventions for those service users with eating disorders Other Duties To develop and implement nutritional plans based on established standards of practice for St Patricks Mental Health Services To develop health promoting approach to nutrition in collaboration with Catering Department across the organisation To provide nutritional educational programmes as agreed with the Dietetics Manager, Programme Manager or Director of Services based on identified service user needs To evaluate outcomes of the nutritional intervention outcomes of the dietetic service provided To work with the Catering Department in developing and reviewing the ED service menu options To analyse the calorie content of the standard menus used and to adapt recipes as required To compile and maintain statistics in relation to individuals treated by Dietician within St. Patrick's Mental Health Services and provide fortnightly report to the Dietetics Manager on service provided To maintain service user, staff, and hospital confidentiality in accordance with hospital policy To disseminate information to service users and staff, designed to improve their knowledge and skills about nutrition To identify and procure appropriate Nutritional educational material and resources for relevant nutritional educational programme To liaise with other colleagues and external agencies as appropriate in relation to service developments To provide information on clinical dietetic activities to management team To engage in regular clinical supervision with designate Clinical Supervisor To engage in continual professional development To develop the roles and responsibilities of the Dietician as agreed with management and in line with the Hospitals strategy To assume all other duties relevant to the role as may be required from time to time This job description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties. Annual Leave The annual leave associated with the position is depending on post-qualification experience. Pension: All pensionable staff become members of the pension scheme after successful completion of probation. The scheme is a defined contribution scheme with a deduction from the salary of the employee of 4%. In respect of an internal appointment being made the individuals existing pension arrangements will continue.
