Job Summary
The role of a Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitter involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of plant and machinery. This includes replacing broken or worn parts, adjusting and servicing components, and checking equipment for optimal performance.
Parts may need to be fabricated using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders. Components may require repair or fabrication using techniques like welding, brazing, rivetting, or soldering.
As technology advances, machines and processes increasingly integrate computer and electronic operating systems with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic devices. CNC, CAD, CIM, and CAM technologies are used in this field.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, service, and maintain process plant, machine tools, and power production equipment.
* Fabricate components using turning, milling, welding, cutting, machining, drilling, reaming, and pipe fabrication techniques.
* Set and adjust control system elements, including computerization and system programming.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Precision turning and advanced milling techniques.
* Coded welding and CNC machining/programming.
* CAM and CAD skills.
* Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
