About The Role
The Senior Healthcare Assistant will work as part of the care team to ensure that residents’ personal, emotional, spiritual, and social care needs are met. This role is pivotal in respecting residents' privacy and dignity while promoting their independence. Additionally, the Senior Healthcare Assistant will provide guidance and support to junior staff, ensuring their growth and adherence to best practices. The role includes taking responsibility for the general day-to-day activities within the home and maintaining the home environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Resident Care: Assist in providing high-quality personal care to residents, including help with daily activities such as washing, dressing, eating, and mobility.
* Ensure that residents\' emotional, spiritual, and social needs are met in a respectful and dignified manner.
* Promote independence by encouraging residents to carry out tasks for themselves wherever possible.
* Staff Supervision & Training: Mentor and support junior care assistants, guiding them in delivering quality care and assisting with their development.
* Monitor junior staff performance, providing constructive feedback and coaching to ensure adherence to company policies and care standards.
* Night Duty (when allocated): Provide wakeful night duty cover, ensuring residents’ safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the night.
* Monitor and manage any incidents or emergencies during night shifts.
* Undertake domestic duties, such as tidying and assisting with laundry, as needed during night shifts.
* Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and team members to ensure the highest standard of care is consistently delivered.
* Attend meetings and training sessions as required to keep up-to-date with best practices and care standards.
* Home Maintenance: Ensure the care home environment is safe, clean, and maintained to the highest standard.
* Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues promptly to the appropriate team.

Essential Criteria
* Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, preferably in a senior or supervisory role within elderly or residential care.
* QQI Level 5 in healthcare and demonstrated experience in supervising staff and delivering person-centred care.
* Understanding of safeguarding procedures, health and safety regulations, and relevant care standards.
* Ability to work independently, manage responsibilities, and motivate a team.
* A commitment to maintaining the dignity and well-being of residents.
* Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
