Glenhaven Quality Foods are one of Ireland’s largest poultry processors, specialising in coated, marinated, cooked, and raw frozen poultry across food service and retail. Our head office is a purpose-built facility comprising of two separate factories and is home to 180 colleagues located just outside Arklow, County Wicklow, in the picturesque ‘Garden of Ireland’.

Glenhaven Foods is now Ireland’s largest producer of high-quality frozen chicken products with four fully integrated continuous coating lines with the capabilities to produce both bagged and carton products supplying all the major retailers, food service operators and distributors both in the ROI and the UK.

Position Summary:

The Maintenance and Capital Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of all manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facilities within the plant. This role ensures high levels of equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and efficient execution of capital projects to support operational growth and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

* Being a key member of a dynamic management team with responsibility for delivering reliable services and utilities to the site.
* Develop and implement a preventive and predictive maintenance program to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency of plant equipment.
* Lead and mentor the maintenance team, providing training, technical guidance, and performance management.
* Manage and optimise the Maintenance Management System to track equipment performance and maintenance schedules.
* Ensure all maintenance activities comply with food safety, health & safety, and environmental regulations.
* Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation issues to minimise downtime.
* Manage spare parts inventory and procurement to support maintenance operations while controlling costs.
* Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of capital projects, including new equipment installations, facility upgrades, and process improvements.
* Collaborate with production, quality, and safety teams to ensure projects align with business goals and regulatory requirements.
* Manage contractors and vendors, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to specification.
* Identify and implement automation and efficiency improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
* Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new capital investments.
* Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, minimising contamination risks.
* Comply with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, and industry regulations in all maintenance and project work.
* Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and other safety protocols.
* Develop and manage the maintenance and capital expenditure (CapEx) budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
* Identify opportunities for cost savings through energy efficiency projects, waste reduction, and improved maintenance strategies.

Qualifications & Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial) or related field (or equivalent experience).
* 5+ years of experience in maintenance and capital project management, ideally within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and automation systems.
* Proven ability to manage large capital projects from concept to completion.
* Understanding of food safety, HACCP, GMP, and regulatory compliance.
* Strong leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
