The Role
We are delighted to be recruiting for the position of IT Support Officer, joining our existing IT Team and reporting to the IT Manager. This is a permanent, full-time (37 hours per week) position. Location is dependent on the successful candidate and may be in either Killorglin or Tralee, Co. Kerry. This is an onsite role, and candidates should have access to their own transport and be flexible to work and travel throughout Cara’s 6 branches, in Co. Kerry.
The IT Support Officer will ensure smooth, reliable IT operations across the credit union.
Provide first‑line support to the team.
Manage IT infrastructure and enhance IT security measures.
Support end users across all branches, both deskside and remotely.
Represent the frontline of the IT function on first and second‑line support, maintaining systems and devices, assisting with security, and contributing to upgrades and modernisation.
Develop and grow in an IT career, gaining hands‑on experience across systems, security and support with potential for long‑term growth within a supportive environment.
Qualifications
Post‑secondary or third level qualification in IT or related.
Understanding of IT systems, networking, and security fundamentals.
Working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2019, Active Directory, Microsoft 365.
Basic networking and firewall concepts.
Strong troubleshooting across PCs, laptops, phones, peripherals, and software.
Clear communicator, able to explain technical issues simply.
Strong organisation and prioritisation; service‑oriented mindset.
Self‑motivated, eager to learn, team oriented, and detail focused.
Full clean driving licence and access to transport for inter‑branch travel.
Alignment with the ethos and values of the credit union.
