Job Title: Deputy Chief Executive Officer Reference No: ***********) Department / Directorate: Office of the CEO / CEO Directorate Reports to: Chief Executive Officer Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) is a model 4, voluntary, academic teaching hospital partnered with Trinity College and situated in south west Dublin.
With a staff of over 4,000 people from 63 different countries, it provides both acute and tertiary care to an increasing population of circa 800,000 people and is a provider of local, regional and national specialties.
It is also a National Urology Centre, the second largest provider of dialysis services in the country, Pelvic and Acetabulum National Centre and a designated Trauma Unit.
The Hospital is part of the newly established HSE Dublin the current remit of projects identified to date are outlined below.
These projects will be subject to change based on the implementation and delivery of the Hospital's Strategy.
Supporting the clinical directorates/departments in delivering cost effective and efficient services, ensuring the Hospital achieves all its clinical performance targets.
Using their leadership skills to ensure they have a visible, accessible and professionally authoritative presence, providing leadership throughout the Hospital.
Determining an organizational structure that can best deliver the required outcomes within the budgets available and work towards development of the substantive clinical directorate and operations management structures.
Overall performance of the clinical services provided by the Hospital including development of new policies, procedures and organizational structures.
Participation on the Executive Management on call rota.
Lead on all projects as delegated from the CEO.
Responsibility for all regulatory compliance throughout the hospital.
The post holder's target priorities/projects may change over time, as determined by the CEO.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES To manage and provide the relevant information on all the required key performance indicators.
Develop business cases, strategic plans, project plans, new policies and procedures, consultation papers and governance arrangements as required.
To support the Clinical Directors and Corporate Directors in being able to provide all necessary assurances as regards the Hospital activity and service delivery including coordinating the Board Integrated Management Report.
To provide full information to the CEO on all key performance indicators through regular updates, in response to ad hoc requests or if a performance indicator is likely to go off track.
At all times specifically raising any concerns and escalating to the CEO as required.
To ensure adequate induction arrangements are in place for and undertaken by all new staff within the departments noted above, including risk management where appropriate.
To take on Hospital wide leadership for other specific projects if so requested by the CEO.
Provide a mentorship / support role for managerial and clinical senior staff.
To represent the Chief Executive Officer in matters pertaining to this area of responsibility as directed and delegated from time to time.
To deputize for the CEOand to act for and represent the CEO in matters pertaining to her area of responsibility as directed and delegated by her from time to time.
To develop positive and responsive relationships with all external and internal stakeholders.
To develop and reinforce the reputation of Tallaght Hospital as a provider of excellent services.
