A leading mixed veterinary hospital seeks a dedicated and experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to advance their career as Head RVN.

1. Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
2. Core Hours: 40 hours per week (5 days), 1 in 3 Saturdays
* No OOH, Sundays or Bank Holidays

The successful candidate will oversee clinical nursing duties, including inpatient care, surgical nursing, and consultations. They will also be responsible for mentoring junior nurses and support staff, setting professional conduct standards, supporting practice improvement projects, managing the nursing team's performance and appraisals, and organizing training to ensure high nursing care standards.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in first opinion practice, demonstrated leadership abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional veterinary care.
Responsibilities:
* Oversee clinical nursing duties, including inpatient care, surgical nursing, and consultations
* Mentor junior nurses and support staff
* Set professional conduct standards
* Support practice improvement projects
* Manage the nursing team's performance and appraisals
* Organize training to ensure high nursing care standards
* Oversee stock levels and equipment maintenance
* Stay updated on veterinary legislation and ensure compliance
* Provide clinical coaching
* Maintain Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI) membership
The successful candidate will work closely with the management team to achieve the goals of the hospital. They will be expected to attend meetings, support partners with various tasks, and ensure adherence to health and safety protocols and proper equipment maintenance.
The role requires a highly organized and motivated individual who can lead the nursing team effectively. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to build strong relationships with colleagues and clients.
