Our client, a busy hospital in Dublin West, is seeking a part-time Medical Secretary to support Consultant Clinics on a short-term basis, with a strong possibility of becoming permanent. Medical Secretary (Part-Time 5 week contract) Location: Dublin West Salary: €40,000 per annum (pro rata) / €22 per hour Hours: 2.5 days per week (17.5 hours, Monday/Tuesday/half day Wednesday) Contract: 5-week contract, strong possibility of permanency Key Responsibilities Provide a warm and professional reception service to patients and families. Manage consultant diaries, schedule appointments and organise clinic workflow. Handle all phone queries with discretion, accuracy and excellent customer care. Maintain and update patient records on hospital systems (e.g., Meditech, RIS/PACS). Process payments, complete daily banking and issue invoices. Prepare and submit documentation for private health insurers. Type medical letters, reports and clinical correspondence (audio/dictaphone typing essential). Support clinic efficiency and uphold hospital confidentiality and quality standards. Essential Requirements Minimum 2 years administrative experience as a medical secretary is essential. Audio/dictaphone typing experience is essential. Strong IT skills with confidence using patient or clinical systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. High level of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment. Desirable Knowledge of medical terminology.
