Join the Naval Service as a General Service Recruit
Please note: Interviews and fitness testing will take place onsite at the Naval Base, Haulbowline Island, Cork.
We are now recruiting for General Service Recruits to join the Naval Service. After completing 12 weeks of initial Recruit Training, you will progress through branch-specific training before qualifying as an Able Rate. This is your opportunity to be part of a professional and dynamic team that patrols and protects Ireland's territorial waters.
About the Role:
1. General Service Recruits form the backbone of the Naval Service and begin their careers with a 12-week training course focused on physical fitness, discipline, and basic military and naval skills.
2. Upon completion, you will advance to Ordinary Rate and begin branch-specific training in one of four areas: Seaman's, Communications, Mechanicians, or Supplies.
3. Once qualified, you'll be promoted to Able Rate and assigned to a Naval Service ship, where you'll take part in a two-year sea rotation.
4. Duties include general maintenance, boat operations, firefighting, damage control, and participating in naval boarding teams during drug interdiction operations.
5. Further training opportunities are available for those who wish to specialise and advance their careers within the Naval Service.

7. Age: 18–39 years on the closing date of applications

Must be an Irish or EU citizen.Must be of good character and pass security clearanceMust meet minimum standards of medical and physical fitnessMust complete all phases of the induction process, including interview, fitness test, medical exam, and Garda vetting

All assessments conducted at the Naval Base, Haulbowline Island, Cork.
Salary & Benefits:
9. Basic salary: €41, with annual increments (after training)
10. Additional allowances for overseas service: Starting at €15,
