This role is ideal for a
construction-related engineering graduate
(civil, structural, or mechanical) with a strong interest in
digital design and temporary works
. You'll combine hands-on engineering knowledge with modern design technologies to plan, model, and coordinate tower crane installations across complex sites - ensuring safety, precision, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop 2D and 3D models of tower crane layouts and temporary works using BIM tools (AutoCAD, Tekla, Revit, or similar).
* Design and check temporary works elements such as bases, ties, and supporting structures for tower cranes.
* Analyse crane positions to ensure multiple cranes can operate safely without collision, factoring in jib lengths, slew radii, and site constraints.
* Collaborate with operations, site teams, and crane suppliers to coordinate crane sequencing and installation planning.
* Prepare detailed method statements and risk assessments for crane erection and dismantling activities.
* Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., BS 5975) and best practice guidance.
* Conduct occasional site visits to review crane installations and verify layouts.
* Maintain accurate design documentation, revisions, and approvals within BIM processes.
Skills & Qualifications
* Degree in Civil, Structural, Construction, or Mechanical Engineering.
* Working knowledge or strong interest in BIM design and coordination tools (AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, Revit, Navisworks, etc.).
* Understanding of structural or mechanical systems (tower cranes, lifting equipment, or temporary works).
* Strong spatial awareness and problem-solving ability.
* Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
* A proactive, safety-first mindset.
* Full, clean driving licence (some site travel required).
Desirable:
* Familiarity with BS 5975 or temporary works procedures.
* Experience in modelling crane layouts or construction plant.
* Safe Pass or CSCS certification.
Desired Skills and Experience
We are partnered with Irlequip Ltd in Moate, Co. Westmeath, and they are looking to hire a BIM Engineer to work on Structural Temporary Works projects, assist with planning, modelling, and co-ordinating tower crane installations across Ireland.
This is an exciting role for someone with a construction or civil engineering degree and an interest in digital design (AutoCAD, Tekla, Revit). You'll work at the intersection of engineering and BIM, designing safe, efficient crane layouts and ensuring multiple cranes can operate seamlessly on site.
