Position Description We are seeking dedicated professionals to join our team, providing specialist civil engineering services in the acquisition, planning, and development of high voltage transmission and distribution assets for the Networks Business. Our team specializes in: Site selection and evaluation Site acquisition Development stage design Consultation with planning authorities and state bodies Design safety management Project scoping, programming, and cost estimation As a Specialist Civil Engineer, you will deliver civil engineering services and coordinate technical specialists from project inception through to final acquisition for electricity infrastructure will also assist in mentoring and developing junior staff. Key Responsibilities Lead and be accountable for the technical evaluation of new distribution substation sites throughout the project development phase. Coordinate with various stakeholders, including local authorities, customers, consultants, and landowners, to ensure project milestones are met. Use strong reporting skills to communicate technical information clearly and simply; interpret maps and drawings, and present information logically and organized. Specify, manage, and be accountable for sub-contractor and sub-consultant inputs for site investigation, assessment, feasibility studies, design, consenting, and construction. Improve and standardize processes by implementing feedback and lessons learned from completed projects. Commit to and promote a strong safety culture in all activities. Undertake the Lead Engineer role for multiple concurrent projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary technical specialists, interfacing with clients/stakeholders, and managing fees and programs. Relevant training will be provided. Act as the PSDP point of contact. Mentor and provide technical support to help develop junior staff. Experience and Qualifications Essential Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification. 7+ years of relevant civil engineering or planning stage design experience. High level of specialist expertise, including strong technical capability in civil engineering and/or planning stage design. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage significant projects/key aspects of projects. Strong commercial and project management capability, with the ability to identify and initiate work requirements with limited oversight. Demonstrable critical thinking skills and judgment to ensure significant civil engineering risks are identified and mitigated. Strong safety awareness, communication, and technical report writing skills. Full driver's license valid for use in the ROI, access to a car, and flexibility to travel nationwide. Desirable Experience in delivering civil engineering/utility projects. Experience in planning stage design and submission within the jurisdiction. Experience in performing Lead Engineer and/or PSDP role on projects. Chartered status or working towards chartered status in a recognized professional institution. Reporting To Team Leader of Site Acquisition and Planning Team. Location This position will be based in one of ESB E&MP's Offices at Dublin Airport or Eastgate, Cork.
