About Zinkworks
Zinkworks partners with leading Telecommunications and Financial Services organizations to modernize legacy systems, migrate mission-critical platforms to the cloud, and engineer AI-driven automation. From OSS transformation to rApp development and network intelligence, our teams simplify complexity and turn it into a competitive advantage. Based in Ireland and operating across the EU, UK, and US, Zinkworks combines deep domain expertise with delivery excellence to help clients modernize faster and operate smarter.
This role is also open to candidates in the UK
The Role
As a Telecom Business Analyst, you will operate at the intersection of network engineering, OSS/BSS platforms, and AI-driven transformation. You will work closely with network SMEs, architects, and delivery teams to translate complex telecom operations into structured, deterministic requirements that enable automation, cloud migration, and intelligent decision-making.
This role is critical to ensuring that AI agents, digital twins, and automation workflows accurately reflect real-world telecom constraints, regulatory obligations, and operational realities. This is a deep domain role focused on telecom engineering lifecycles, rules, and data models rather than end-user experience or product design.
Key Responsibilities:
* Requirement Gathering & Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate deep-dive workshops with telecom SMEs to translate complex network engineering needs into detailed, unambiguous requirements, acting as the bridge between engineering teams and delivery.
* Process Mapping & Analysis: Map and optimise end-to-end telecom lifecycles, including provisioning, activation, assurance, optimisation, and decommissioning, using BPMN or UML to define clear future-state operations.
* Data & System Analysis: Analyse and document complex data flows across OSS/BSS, inventory, and network management systems, translating engineering rules into precise data models and API specifications.
* Requirements Documentation: Produce high-quality BRDs, FRDs, user stories, non-functional requirements, and acceptance criteria that codify telecom-specific business and engineering rules.
* Support Solution Design: Validate solution architectures and legacy-to-cloud integrations, ensuring alignment with telecom operating models, standards, and network constraints across RAN, Core, and Fixed domains.
* Testing & Validation: Define telecom-specific test scenarios and validation rules, supporting system integration testing and User Acceptance Testing to ensure network integrity and correctness.
* Change Management & Operational Readiness: Document operational impacts across people, processes, and systems, supporting rollout readiness, training activities, and transition to operations.
* Governance & Compliance Support: Ensure requirements align with regulatory and governance frameworks, including GDPR, lawful intercept, roaming obligations, and internal data governance standards.
Must-Have Skills:
* Deep telecom domain expertise across RAN, Core, Transport, Fixed Access, and OSS/BSS environments.
* Proven experience eliciting and documenting complex engineering-driven requirements in large-scale telecom programmes.
* Strong analytical capability, including proficiency with SQL and BI tools to analyse network KPIs and complex data models.
* Expertise in process modelling techniques such as BPMN and experience working within Agile or SAFe delivery frameworks.
* Strong understanding of telecom lifecycles, inventory concepts, and service orchestration models.
* Ability to translate highly technical network concepts into clear, structured systems and business requirements.
* Experience working with OSS/BSS platforms, network management systems, and cloud-based environments.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior engineers, architects, and operations teams.
* Critical thinker with a structured approach to problem-solving, capable of prioritising effectively in fast-paced engineering environments
Nice-to-Have Skills
* Experience supporting network automation, AI/ML, or data-driven transformation initiatives.
* Familiarity with telecom standards and frameworks such as TM Forum, 3GPP, or Open APIs.
* Exposure to large-scale or national telecom network environments.
* Understanding of reliability, observability, or operational assurance concepts in complex systems.
